GlossyBox April 2014

GlossyBox is a mystery beauty box which costs from £8.50 per month (plus P&P), depending on the duration of the subscription you purchase. It comes beautifully presented in a sturdy, reusable box that's 8.75 inches long, 6.25 inches wide and 2.75 inches in depth.

The contents are gift-wrapped in tissue paper and tied with a pretty ribbon, making it a real treat to open! Speaking of which, this months theme was Sweet Treats

My box came with 2 full size products and 3 travel-sized items.

My first full-sized item was the L312 Lip Brush by Emite Make Up, a slanted lip brush made of synthetic taklon hair. It feels well made and there doesn't appear to be any shedding - as you should expect from a £17 brush!

The other full-sized product in my box this month was MeMeMe Cosmetics Check & Lip Tint in Cupid's Kiss. The bottle looks a bit like nail polish, it even has a similar brush applicator. It's a 2-in-1 product that you can apply to your lips or the apple of your cheeks for a pink flush of colour. This 12 ml container is worth £5.50.

I also received a travel size (100 ml) can of TRESemmé Instant Refresh Cleansing Dry Shampoo. It's easy to use; simply shake the can then spray and massage well into your roots. I'm a big fan of dry shampoo as it refreshes my hair and helps to take away some of the extra shine I get during menstruation. This one smells rather nice too. The full size version is 200 ml and retails for £4.99.

Next was a 30 ml sample of Monu Spa's Warming Ginger Massage & Body Oil, which has an RRP of £25 for 100 ml. This is another multi-tasking product; it can be used as a massage oil, a body oil or as a shower/bath milk. It has a spicy, citrus scent to it which I'm not particularly fond of, but it leaves your skin feeling very soft.

The final item was the Gentle Wash from QV Skincare. This cleanser has a soap-free, pH balanced formula that's kind to sensitive skin and is designed to alleviate the symptoms of dermatitis, eczema and other dry skin conditions. You use it like most daily cleansers - massage onto the skin, rinse and pat dry. A full size (250 ml) costs £6.06 and this sample was 15 g.

Overall, this box offered a decent variety of products and the price of the lip brush alone was worth more than I paid for the entire box, so it's definitely good value for money. I'm in a long distance relationship which demands the occasional travel, so sample sized products are also very convenient for me. I'm unsure how these products tie into the Sweet Treats theme, however.
