Loot Crate June 2014

Loot Crate is a monthly subscription box for geeks and gamers, with prices starting from $11.67 plus P&P. For those of us in the UK prices start at $27 (about £15.79) including shipping, and I wasn't charged any additional customs fees when my package was delivered.

The theme this month was Transform and focused heavily on the Transformers franchise.

There's a mini magazine included in every crate featuring articles, interviews and a break down of all the items you receive. This issue also had a transformers name generator (my result was Thunder Blitz).

In addition to the magazine, a Loot Crate badge comes with each box which displays the theme of the month.

There was an exclusive T-shirt in the box with a Marty McPrime print; a mash-up of Optimus Prime of Transformers and Marty McFly from Back to the Future. Before it was shipped out Loot Crate sent me an email containing a size chart for it, so I could change the size information on my account if necessary.

Then there was a Transformers Blind Box, which contains a random vinyl figure. I received Soundwave, a Decepticon. The figure seems to be very good quality and is even somewhat articulated. He comes with a plastic concussion blaster gun but it's a bit awkward to fit into his hand so I prefer not to attach it.

I also received a Transformers Hex Bug Nano, a micro robotic critter which scurries around thanks to a vibrating mechanism.

The next item in my box was a transformers sticker. You can either get an Autobot or a Decepticon sticker, I got the Autobot one. The white parts of the sticker are transparent, so this would be perfect for sticking on your laptop or any other devices without looking too out of place as it will blend in better with the surface.

Also in this months crate were some Warheads Extreme Sour Hard Candy, in lemon and watermelon flavour. They really live up to their name, thankfully the intense bitterness fades into a much milder taste.

Diverting away from the Transform theme, Loot Crate included some Major League Gaming merchandise - an exclusive MLG teams logo sticker set and a one-month code for GameBattles Premium Access.

Lastly, they included a black wristband made from soft terry cloth with the MLG logo on it, I presume to wipe away your forehead sweat during an intense gaming session.

And so that was everything in my Loot Crate this month!

I have to admit I'm not a big fan of Transformers - I purchased this box with the intention of giving most of the items to my younger brother who is - but I really like the Marty McPrime T-shirt. That has to be my favourite product this month. July's theme is Villains, so I expect I'll find more to enjoy in that one.
